Donald D. Hillman, Sr., was born to Max and Jane Hillman on May 14, 1937 in Monmouth, Illinois. He passed away in his home peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022 in Knoxville, Illinois.

On May 17, 1956 he married Loreta “Rita” Ray, in Monmouth, Illinois. They had four children: Donald (Lucy) Hillman of East Moline, Illinois, Cindy Hillman of Galesburg, Illinois, Mike (Sally) Hillman of East Galesburg, Illinois, and Greg (Dawn) Hillman of Tremont, Illinois; Eight grandchildren: Jeremy (Tiffany) Powell of Bloomington, Illinois, Amber (Bryan) Rasso of Colona, Illinois, Ashley Greer of Springfield, Illinois, Ivy Hillman of Moline, Illinois, Brandy (Charlie) solo of Atlanta, Georgia, Levi Hillman, Keokuk, Iowa, Maverick Hillman, Tremont, Illinois, Dawson Hillman, Tremont, Illinois; twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Through his life he worked many professions, including, Hillman’s Tree Surgery with his father. Owned and operated Don’s East Galesburg RV for sixteen years and a carpenter He was always helping people with what they needed done.  He enjoyed his crafts, landscaping, gardening and spending time at the local restaurant with his friends. He was a member of the East Galesburg community Church in East Galesburg, Illinois.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the East Galesburg Community Chapel in East Galesburg, Illinois, with Rev. Danny England officiating. Burial will be in the East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, Illinois, with Military Rites. Following the services, the family will have a fellowship at the East Galesburg Community Chapel. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory will be handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
