Elizabeth H. “Betty” Lovell, 90, of Galesburg, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in Marigold Health Care Center.

She was born November 12, 1931, in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Harry and Mary Elizabeth (Convoy) Good.  She married Sidney W. Wood Sr.  She later married Lawrence H. “Larry” Lovell on October 30, 1971, in Ft. Lewis, Washington.  He preceded her in death October 17, 1989.

She is survived by three sons, Sidney W. “Butch” Wood Jr. of Galesburg, Thomas P. (Jan) Wood of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Phillip E. (Joyce) Wood of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota; step daughter, Kathy (Mike Dunabaur) Olson of Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Terry (Susan) Good of Tacoma, Washington; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jeralyn “Jerry” Wood-Albright; a brother, Auddie; and two sisters, Estelle and Joan.

Betty was raised and educated in Tacoma, Washington.  While living there, she worked as a telephone operator for AT&T.  After moving to Galesburg, she managed the Paperback Book Rack on Main St. for 25 years.  She also worked as a security guard for Sharkey Transportation at United Facilities.

Betty was of the Catholic faith and attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  She enjoyed horticulture, watching Westerns on TV, and anything to do with food, from eating to cooking to watching cooking shows.  She was also an avid reader and she enjoyed crocheting.  Her family and friends have been blessed to have so many Afghan blankets made for them.

Cremation will be accorded.  A visitation to celebrate her life will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Private family graveside service will be in the Knoxville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to O.A.K.S.
