The Galesburg Public Library, in partnership with Carl Sandburg College Career Development center and the Regional Office of Education, will be hosting an Essential Skills Academy upstairs at the library. The Essential Skills Academy is a sixteen-hour course taught over two days that will teach attendees skills to improve their success rate in gaining and retaining employment. It is led by Carl Sandburg College Career Development center, and will take place on Friday, August 12 and Friday, August 19 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Academy graduates will gain invaluable knowledge and skills such as business and social etiquette, communication, time management, teamwork, resume building, interview prep, and much more. Attendees must attend both sessions to graduate. The Essential Skills Academy is free and open to all adults! Any individuals looking for a job or looking to brush up on employability skills are encouraged to attend, and businesses who would like their employees to gain these valuable job skills are encouraged to call.
