Janet E. McCann, 63, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2022 at her home.

She was born on December 6, 1958 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Earl “Gunner” and Bonita (Cooke) McCann.  Janet was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School.  She later attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. 

Janet worked for many years at Carhartt in Galesburg, IL.  She was an avid animal lover and took care of many stray cats.  Janet also enjoyed crafting and watching westerns.  She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth. 

Surviving Janet is one sister, Pamela (Dale) Ridgway of Jonesborough, TN; sister-in-law, Jean Herron of Crescent City, IL; three nephews, Jonathan Barton, William (Stephanie) Barton, Andy (Wendy) McCann; one niece, Carrie (Mike) Rudolph; eight great nieces & nephews and numerous cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunner & Bonita McCann and one brother, Roger McCann. Cremation rites have been accorded. 

A private family graveside service will be at Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Memorials can be made to Western IL Animal Rescue (WIAR).  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
