Jeannie Lynn Westbay (Crow)

Share

Our beloved Jeannie Lynn Westbay (Crow) went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the age of 67 following an arduous battle with cancer, which she was determined to overcome until the end.  She was born in Galesburg, Illinois to Leonard Junior and Imogene Crow on November 24, 1954 and raised in East Galesburg, Illinois. Jeannie shared an amazing legacy with her husband, Steve, reaching over 50 years of love and laughter.

Jeannie first met Steve after transferring to Knoxville Junior High School from Raymond Marquith to begin 7th grade.  After several years of pursuit during which Steve declared Jeannie a “fox” daily, Jeannie gave into Steve’s persistent charm.  Shortly following high school graduation in 1972, the two took off for a weekend and were engaged at Lake of the Ozarks, a place that became their lifelong boating and vacation destination and second home in later years.

Jeannie was a proud employee of Community Bank for over 10 years until her love for the bank was outweighed by her commitment to becoming a mother.  She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom – baking cream-filled cupcakes for every school event, practicing hair styles on family or friends, and cooking quantities far in excess of the number of mouths at the table.  After more than 15 years out of the workforce, Jeannie enrolled in Carl Sandburg’s Cosmetology School allowing her to fulfill her lifelong desire to make money doing hair.

To all who knew her, Jeannie was the perfect combination of elegance and class with a humorous and witty personality.  She often made up nicknames, words and phrases that have remained in circulation for decades but are not appropriate to print.  Jeannie will be sorely missed and survived by her husband, Steve; daughter, Lacie Clark and her husband, Roger; son, Mitchell and his wife, Renee; grandsons, Sutton and Finley Shook; and, first granddaughter Eastyn Renee Westbay.  She also leaves many other family members and dear friends.

Jeannie never wanted to be the center of attention, so her services will be private.  Celebration of Life, for family and friends, at The Vault at Reserve Artisan Ales, 185 S. Kellogg, Galesburg, IL from 4:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Online condolences may be made at hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be left to the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (www.foundationforwomenscancer.org).
