In the midst of their Back-to-School Campaign, the Regional Office of Education #33 is also focusing on filling open positions across the region. Director of Services, Delabar Career and Technical Education Kathryn Jennings shares three locations of upcoming Job Fairs:

“We will host one in Knox County on Thursday, September 1st at The Vault in Galesburg. IN Mercer County, Wednesday, September 7th at Oak View Country Club in Aledo. In Warren and Henderson County we will host an event at Meks on Main in Monmouth on Thursday, September 15th.”

The Job Fairs at each location will be held from 5 to 7:30 pm. Additionally, Regional Office of Education Assistant Superintendent Lori Loving says pieces of legislation allow for more flexibility in addressing the educator shortage:

“If a person is enrolled in an educator prep program, they can get short term approval to become a teacher while being supervised in finishing their program and that lasts for three years until they get their actual license. We also have a short-term legislation for paraprofessionals, so a person with a high school degree either 18 or 19 years old or a high school equivalency, has three years to work on the requirements to complete the paraprofessional license. Then there is also for someone with a bachelor’s degree with hours in a specific content area, if they pass the content area test, they also can become licensed as an educator.”

More details on available positions and short-term licensing approval can be found on each school districts website or https://www.roe33.net/.
