Warren County History Museum Lecture Talks History of Pork

Share

Join the Warren County History Museum for an evening lecture from Illinois Humanities Road Scholar Cynthia Clampitt! In this one-hour lecture, you’ll learn about the history of pigs and pork and the impact these animals had worldwide but more especially the impact they had once introduced to the Midwest, including why Sandburg would call Chicago “Hog Butcher for the World.” With Monmouth’s own BaconFest returning this year, this will be a timely talk!

This evening lecture is sponsored by The Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau. This bureau invites Illinois authors, artists, and educators to share their expertise and enthusiasm with people throughout the state, enabling local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs of high quality to their communities for a modest fee.

Illinois Humanities is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Illinois General Assembly [through the Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA)], as well as by contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed by speakers, program participants, or audiences do not necessarily reflect those of the NEH, Illinois Humanities, IACA, our partnering organizations, or our funders.
