Barbara Anne (Adkisson) Jacobson passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, August 29 at the Bickford in Macomb.

Barb was born in the Monmouth Hospital on August 14, 1928 to Viola (Pinney) and Frank Adkisson and raised on their family farm in Point Pleasant Township. She graduated from Roseville High School and attended Iowa State College (now University), majoring in journalism.

She had several jobs including sales at Colwells Department Store in Monmouth before starting her family. An only child, Barb wanted her kids to have siblings and is survived by her five children – Denise (Steve) Mumma of Green Valley, Arizona, Doug Mills of Roswell, Georgia, Marianne Mills of Roswell, Georgia, Jonathan (Shiela) Jacobson of Carson City, Nevada, and Matthew (Shelli Stuart) Jacobson of Macomb. She also enjoyed time with her six grandchildren – Nikki Mumma Statz of Leander, Texas, Emily Mumma of Longmont, Colorado, Ian Mills of Roswell, Georgia, Ryne Jacobson of Chicago, Brooke Jacobson of Channahon, Illinois, and Jacob Mack of Iowa City, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Donald W. Mills, and her second husband of 54 years, Harlan Jacobson, who passed on September 13, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Roseville, Barb spent her 94 years as part of the local farming community, supporting a family farm that is part of the Adkisson and Pinney family legacies since the mid-1800s. An avid gardener and quilter, Barb was challenged to choose between Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune each evening. Her children are convinced she flipped more pancakes and served more pie and ice cream than any other parent over the 27 years of supporting the local Band Parents’ Pancake Supper and summer ice cream socials. She enjoyed reading mysteries, doing puzzles, and spending time with her extended family around the country. A bit sassy, she enjoyed a good joke and the occasional bad one. Barb and Jake were also very active in competitive corn husking and hosted state and national competitions on their farm south of Roseville. She was a member of numerous local clubs and school organizations, Warren County Homemakers Association, American Angus Quilting and Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb, IL.

A private family graveside service will be in Roseville Memorial Park at a later date.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Bickford Recreation Fund or the Roseville Ambulance Service and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave and online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
