Doris M. Hartz, 96, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Courtyard Estates of Knoxville, IL. She was born Monday, September 28, 1925 at her parents’ home in Rivoli Township, Mercer County, IL, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Frye) Cash. She married Kenneth G. Hartz on March 12, 1946, in Alexis and he preceded her in death January 9, 2021.

Those left to cherish her memory are, sons, Freddy Joseph (Norma) Hartz and Randy Lee (Tina) Hartz; one daughter, Julie Mae (Jay) Kirby; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Kenneth Steven Hartz; grandson, Steven; siblings, LaJune Patterson, Kenneth Cash and Marian Simpson.

After her graduation from Alexis High School, Doris attended Knox College to pursue a degree in nursing. Doris was the head cook for the Alexis school district. She was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Doris always looked for the good in people and loved helping others. She was a very talented artist who loved painting, crafting and sewing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place in the Alexis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Betty’s Garden of Courtyard Estates, Knoxville, IL, for their excellent care of Doris over the past year. Wise Family Funeral Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
