Edward Francis Libby, 76, of Galesburg, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at his home, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born December 1, 1945 in Cincinnatti, Ohio, the son of Edward F. and Elizabeth J. (Volz) Libby. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from July of 1963 to September of 1967. He worked as a lineman for a local power company for 45 years, until his retirement. Ed married Margaret S. “Peggy” Jones on March 18, 1989 in Memphis, Missouri.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Peggy Libby of Galesburg; one son, Tanner (Stephanie) Libby of Overland Park, Kansas; and three daughters: Heather (Jim) Yuratovac of Chicago, Illinois, Alison (Jordan) Boone of Galesburg, and Robyn (Galen Davis) Libby of Galesburg. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Halle, Kamden, Grae, Beckett, Gaites, Tavian, Talen, Tamryn, Sloane, and Thomas; two brothers; and one sister, Cheryl (Bill) Whiteside of Portland, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen Telle.
Ed was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge 880. He had many pastimes that he enjoyed, but most of all was passionate about woodworking. Ed will be fondly remembered and forever missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Galesburg. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Father Lee Brokaw will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg.
