JCC Learning Center Serving New Wave of Students

Share

After a little break from the end of the summer session, Jamieson Community Center’s Learning Center is back underway for the school year, serving children in first through sixth grades, shares Executive Director Nancy Mowen:

“We have a lot of new children starting. We graduated some over the summer and the look on their faces when they realize what they accomplished, it is just heartwarming. We do have some openings for tutors. The hours are approximately 3 to 5 pm; there is some flexibility in there. Our tutors work with two children in first through sixth grade and they help them with the fundamentals of reading, writing, and math. We also work on spelling. We have curriculum, so it is very structured and very planned.”

Students that are between six months and two years behind grade level are eligible for the free program.
