Karen Kay White passed away unexpectedly September 28, 2022 with her loving children by her side.  She will forever be missed by those she left behind.  We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her husband and family.

Karen was born November 6, 1941 in Galesburg, Illinois to Kenneth and Margaret (Badgett) Neave.  Karen attended Corpus Christi High School and married Marvin Ray White on August 21, 1963 in Rock Island, Illinois.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on July 12, 2013; brother, Allen Neave; three sisters, Nancy Danner, Kathleen Allen, Jo Ann Neave; and one great grandson, Mitchell Surber.

Karen or Kay as she was known at work had a 30 plus year career at Maytag.  More importantly Karen was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Her home was a loving, welcoming place.  Family was the center of her life.  Kids young and old could be sure to find candy in the dish and a big loving heart to welcome you.  Family cookouts, Fourth of July get togethers, and Christmas Eve celebrations were favorite events for the family and Karen.  One thing Karen really enjoyed was going to yard sales with her daughter, Lisa.  Family vacations with the grandkids were another of her favorite activities.

Karen is survived by her children, Lisa Surber and Rodney (Dottie) White both of Galesburg and Todd (Tammy) Mitchell of Oquawka, Illinois; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Cremation will be accorded following visitation with graveside services following at 11 a.m. Saturday October 8, 2022 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.  Memorials may be made to Foursquare Gospel Church or the Knox County Humane Society.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
