Harvest 2022 has arrived. Here in West Central Illinois, local farmer and Chair of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Young Leaders Justin Allaman, says as farmers begin getting into the fields, the crop looks good for the so called “garden spot” of the state, however other areas are experiencing dry conditions:
“There is a lot of places that are dry, and you don’t have to go too far from the Monmouth area, and you can tell those yields, definitely the top end has been taken off and they are hurting. At least in our immediate area, we have been really blessed. We have talked to farmers that have traveled here from other areas and they said we really are in the “garden spot,” West Central Illinois really looks good compared to some other areas that missed out on some of the rains we had.”
Allaman is a sixth-generation farmer in the Gladstone area.
