Mary Alice McKeague, 93, of Alexis, IL passed away at 6:23 pm, Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. 

Mary Alice was born August 15, 1929 at her family home near Little York, IL, the daughter of Samuel “Woodie” and Leota Dare (Purlee) Timberlake.  She was raised and educated in Little York, Galesburg and the Alexis areas, graduating from Alexis High School in 1948.  She later graduated from the Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. 

Mary Alice married John Robert McKeague on February 14, 1952 at the family in North Henderson, IL and he passed away March 13, 2001. 

Mary Alice was a Registered Nurse at the Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 33 years before retiring in 1991. 

She was an active member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Alexis Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, walking, following local area and college sports teams.  She also was a member of a local Bridge card club.  

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa L. “Terri” McKeague of Knoxville, IL and son, Michael J. (Julie) McKeague of Mendota, IL.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, John (Katy Hall) McKeague of LaSalle, IL and Erin (Rick) Perez of Flower Mound, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Kate Perez, Brynn Perez and Knox Perez; her sister, Carol Berry of Glendora, CA; several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her infant sister, Ruth Timberlake. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, Alexis, IL, Interment will be at Alexis Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be given to the Alexis United Presbyterian Church or the Alexis-North Henderson Ambulance and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
