The Monmouth-Roseville Titan football team hits the road for the first time this season for their week 2 Three Rivers Conference cross division match up against a new football co-op in the Three Rivers, Spring Valley Hall and Putnam County. The Titans gutted out a 22-16 week one win over Kewanee in game that mistakes were made on both sides of the ball, especially early in the first half. Monmouth-Roseville head coach Jeremy Adolphson said after the game that several Monmouth-Roseville seniors had nice games, including quarterback Silas Braun’s 7-for-10, 1 touchdown passing night, Jerome Jackson’s 123 yards rushing and three total touchdowns and CJ Johnson’s 60 yards receiving, 13 solo tackles, sack and interception. There are a few other interesting games around the area tonight. Knoxville and Mercer County play in Knoxville in a game that from week one results, could go a long way towards deciding an LTC champ. Like Knoxville, Mercer County got a big week one win, beating perennial power Farmington by two touchdowns, 24-8, holding a normally potent Farmer offense to just eight points. Farmington is at Havana this week.

In another intriguing match up, Rockridge will play Sterling Newman in Newman tonight in a Three Rivers cross-division contest. Rockridge is coming off a 41-22 week one loss to what looks to be another powerhouse this season in Princeton. Princeton throttled Orion 60-20 last night in a Thursday night meeting. Newman beat Morrison 28-6 last Friday night.

Macomb got off to a great start on their home turf with a 30 point win over Rushville/Industry in their opening Prairieland Conference game. The Bombers will look to go (2-0) in league play this week with a road win at South Fulton. The Rebels also got an impressive 38-6 win over West Hancock.

Speaking of artificial turf, the Galesburg Silver Streaks are at home against Thornton Township tonight in a non-conference game.

And speaking of Galesburg High School’s artificial turf, the A-Town Tornades will play Stark County at GHS Saturday night at 6:00. Also tomorrow, the West Central Heat host West Prairie at West Central High School in Biggsville at 1:00.
