New CSC Athletic Director Daniella Irle Says She Missed Being Able to Make a Difference After Retirement

New Carl Sandburg College Athletic Director Daniella Irle visited the WRAM Morning Show on Wednesday morning and talked about her long career in playing, coaching and administrating college athletics. She started her career as a highly successful Division I Swimming and Diving coach at Tulane and Fresno State University, where her teams were 124-43 in dual meets. Irle was named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1995 at Fresno State and Conference USA Women’s Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006 at Tulane. While at Tulane University in New Orleans, she entered the world of college sports administration as assistant athletic director for business and student service operations. She was at Tulane during Hurricane Katrina and was instrumental in overseeing the school’s reinstatement of sports that had been suspended due to the tragedy. From Tulane, she spent 10 years in various administration duties at the University of North Dakota. Irle was named Knox College’s Director of Athletics in March of 2018 and retired from the position this past June. After a summer of traveling around watching her three children play sports, Irle got the itch to return to work.
