Sanda J. Curtis went to her eternal rest September 22, 2022 with her children at her bedside.
Sanda was born in Belvidere, IL on July 2, 1931 to Fred and Maude Schulte. She is survived by daughter Chris Curtis and partner Craig Parker, son Michael and his wife Joy Dietz Curtis, and her sister Barbara Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Curt, parents, and sister Joyce.
In her early years, she proudly was crowned Miss Belvidere 1950 and Miss Wolf Chevrolet. She married Harold “Curt” Curtis in Belvidere in 1952. They were life partners who enjoyed traveling, the beach, swimming, camping, golfing (at Lake Calhoun), spending good times with friends, and many more adventures until his death in 2016.
Sanda started her early career as a beautician and later worked as a retail saleswoman at Lillian’s in Rockford, Ida Anne Shoppe in Galesburg and the Red Oak in Bishop Hill. She was a devout Episcopalian/Anglican who served on the Altar Guild of her churches in Belvidere, Rockford, Galesburg and Kewanee. She was the proud daughter of Fred Schulte who had a successful career as a professional baseball player in the 1930s.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Grace Anglican Church 151 E. Carl Sandburg Dr., Galesburg, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Church or Prairie Players Civic Theatre.
