United Red Storm Junior High Baseball Win Regional Championship Title Third Year in a Row

The United Red Storm advanced in the IESA state tournament on Monday with a 10-1 victory over West Central. United fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first but dominated after that with 10 straight runs. Chance Stewart started the bottom of the inning with a single before Koen Sperry walked. After a strikeout Wyatt Stockdale walked to load the bases. Stewart and Sperry would each score on an error to take the 2-1 lead. In the second Lucas Horner would walk and score on a Chance Stewart double. Koen Sperry would single home Stewart to make it 4-1. In the fourth Carter Olson would lead off with a walk and move up on another double by Chance Stewart. Olson would score on a wild throw to make it 5-1. Stewart would score on a fielders choice. Mason McKeown would single. After an error loaded the bases Kellen Boone would walk to make it 7-1. In the fifth Koen Sperry reached on an error and scored on a Mason McKeown double. The Red Storm scored their final run in the sixth on 2 walks a sacrifice and and a Carter Olson single. Chance Stewart led the way with 3 hits while Mason McKeown added 2 hits while Koen Sperry, Wyatt Stockdale and Carter Olson all added a hit. Wyatt Stockdale got the win on the mound as he went 5 1/3 innings allowing 1 run on no hits and 12 strikeouts. Collin Leary finished up on the mound with 1 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit. The Red Storm advance to a Saturday matchup with 18-3 Chillicothe at 11 a.m. in Oneida.
