Every ten years the Warren County Board has to address the gains and losses of population within the Townships of the county. Due to decreased population from the latest census, Chairman Mike Pearson says the loss will result in changes being made and the possibility of losing an assessor for Warren County:
“You have to have at least 1,000 people in a Township or a group of Townships to have an assessor assigned to that territory. With the population losses that we have had, some changes will be required in the Township in how they are laid out. We have four Township assessors in Warren County, which is pretty high compared to a lot of counties, especially rural counties they will only have one or two.”
Current population in Warren County is in the 16,000’s.
