Prospective college students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education can now complete classes at Sauk Valley Community College and transfer immediately to Western Illinois University while finishing the last two years remotely through various delivery options.
“This partnership will have such a valuable influence on the Sauk Valley region. Students will be able to complete both of the degrees and then give back by becoming teachers in their local communities,” said Interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Services Katrina Daytner.
The new 2+2 agreement between SVCC and WIU allows students to complete their general education and related courses at SVCC and then seamlessly transfer to WIU. At WIU, students can earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education through either a traditional face-to-face schedule or a hybrid of online face-to-face coursework and in-person student teaching.
“We are very excited about this new partnership, and this new agreement will help us continue to work together to address the teacher shortage,” said WIU President Guiyou Haung.
