Here’s our WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 11th, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior boys cross country runner, Caleb Miller. Caleb ran a 3-mile time of 16:25.8 at the massive First to the Finish meet on the famous course at Detweiler Park in Peoria. That finish was good enough to give him a 29th overall individual finish in a field of 642 Class

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls cross country runner, Mae Sims. Mae earned her first 1st place finish of her career by crossing the finish line first at Bradley Park in Peoria. She ran a 3-mile time of 25:58 which beat all the runners in a meet that included Class 2A schools, Peoria Central and Peoria Manual.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Parker Meldrum. Parker was a force on both sides of the ball in a 66-34 win over Ridgewood. On offense, he rushed for 140 yards on just 11 carries, including two touchdowns. On defense, Parker led the team with 18 tackles, with 8 of them being solo stops.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys soccer player, Matt Roach. Matt had a big hand in the Streak’s (3-0) week last week. He scored a hat trick of three goals in a 4-2 win over Sterling and also had a single goal in a 3-0 victory over

A-Town. Matt has seven goals and eight assists on the year so far.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Kellen Hook. Kellen’s name was all over the stat sheet in a 49-0 win over West Carroll. He scored one rushing touchdown and caught five passes for 62 yards and another two touchdowns. Kellen also helped out on defense, tying for the team lead in solo tackles with 3.
