Here’s our WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 18th, 2022:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior football player, CJ Johnson. CJ had a career night in a win over Sherrard. He ran for 156 yards on 16 carries and hitting the end zone four times. CJ added another touchdown on a 72 yard interception return for a touchdown, adding in 7 solo tackles on defense, as well.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls golfer, Brodi McVeigh. Brodi was one of three Red Storm ladies to earn Lincoln Trail All-Conference selections at The Railsplitter conference championship meet at Valley View in Cambridge. She carded an 18-hole score of 108 to place 8th overall individually. Brodi’s score helped her team win a second consecutive LTC team title.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior girls golfer, Elaina Fisher. Elaina finished 2nd individually at the Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter championship meet at Valley View in Cambridge, carding an 18-hole score of 108. It’s her fourth straight All Lincoln Trail Conference selection. Elaina was 3rd as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore and 4th as a junior.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week senior girls tennis players, Sariah Simmons and Kaidence Wilson. Sariah and Kaidence have been solid on the court all season for the Streaks. They placed 3rd at #1 doubles in the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational. Sariah and Kaidence also earned wins in two matches earlier in the week.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys soccer player, Jadon Rodeffer. Jadon hat trick of 3 goals helped the Tornadoes to a win over Tolono Unity. He also had a goal in each of his squad’s win over Peoria Manual and tie against Illini Bluffs. Jadon also had a hat trick earlier this season in a win over Riverdale.
