Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 25th, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior girls cross country runner, Zoey Johnson. Zoey was the top finishing Titan runner for both the boys and the girls team at the annual Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational. Her time of 27:45 was good enough for 23 place. That time was just 30 seconds from a top-20 finish.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior boys golfer, Carson Horner. Carson shot an 85 at the Lincoln Trail Conference Railsplitter Championship meet. That score helped the Red Storm to a 3rd place finish as a team. Carson placed 6th individually, which was the highest placing Red Storm golfer and earned him an All-Conference Team medal.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior dual-sport athlete, Libby Miller. While swimming in a co-op with Monmouth-Roseville, Libby earned a pair of top-10 finishes with a 7th and an 8th at a swim meet at Washington High School. The night after a grueling swim meet, Libby handed out six assists and provided great floor leadership in a volleyball win over Stark County.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys golfer, Jason Runbom. After a 7th place finish at the 2021 IHSA Class 2A state finals, Jason placed 1st at this season’s Western Big Six Conference championship meet. It was his first Western Big Six individual title of his career. Jason was the runnerup in the tournament in his sophomore and junior seasons and placed 3rd during his freshman year.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Briana Hensley. Briana filled up the stat sheet in a non-conference win over Bushnell-Prairie City. She handed out eight assists, hustled her way to six digs and smashed six kills in the victory. Briana also led the Tornadoes in assists in her team’s five matches at the Knoxville Tournament.
