The West Central High School 8-man football team hosted their final home contest of the regular season, with a Saturday night game against Galva this past weekend. The Heat honored several senior athletes first, and then cruised to their 8th win of the year in another dominant 60-8 win over the Wildcats. In yet another quick start, West Central took a substantial lead at half, leading 46-0 at the break.
With the win, the Heat are now 8-0 and are ranked as the number 1 team in the state of Illinois in the latest IHSA 8-man football rankings. West Central’s final game of the year is a road test with the number 3 ranked Amboy/LaMoille/Ohio high school CO-OP. Amboy handed West Central one of their only losses last season. Heat Head Coach, Jason Kirby, previewed the big game during his Wednesday morning WRAM Coaches Corner interview.
Kickoff for the game will be 7:00 on Friday, October 21st. Then West Central and Amboy will find out who they are taking on in the IHSA 8-man playoffs, when all the matchups are announced on the following Saturday.
