Parents/guardians and preschoolers, ages 2-5 years, will learn about the amazing changes that fall weather brings to us to enjoy.  Join us for hands-on fun and exploratory activities with  your child around Lakeside Nature Center.  Participants will investigate the gardens to find fall friends in their habitat, learn about leaves and create a fall craft with additional adventures.  Class will be held outside at the Lakeside Nature Center so dress for the weather.   Call the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation at 345-3683 for more information. 

Aquatic Fitness Classes and Early Morning Lane Swim

Baymont by Wyndham Hotel and Knox College

Session I:  October 3-28, 2022

Session II:  October 31-November 23, 2022

Day/Time:  Early Morning Lane Swim  – Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays – 6-8:00 a.m.

Aquatic Fitness – Mondays-Thursdays – 8:30-9:30 a.m. AND Mondays and Wednesdays – 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Site:  Baymont by Wyndham Hotel and Knox College

Fee:  $30.00 per personThe City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation continues to invest in the lives of our community by continuing to offer aquatic classes and swimming this fall, even while Hawthorne Municipal Pool is closed, thanks to the partnership with Baymont by Wyndham Hotel and Knox College.  Aquatic workout classes are ideal for all levels, and provide excellent cardiovascular and respiratory fitness.  These classes can assist with improving balance and flexibility, build strength and endurance and are great for muscle toning.  Enthusiastic instructors provide fitness within a fun environment and a heated pool.  Aquatic Fitness classes are offered on Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.   Classes offered include Aqua-Fit and Aqua-Zumba.  The Aqua-Zumba classes are taught by Chris Fredrickson, with enthusiastic instructors teaching Aqua-Fit.    Early Morning Lane Swim is available at Knox College from 6-8:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Participants get full access to all lane swim times and aquatic fitness classes.  No refund or credits issued for weather related closures.  Interested participants can try a class or lane swim for $5.00.  The real deal is the $30 per month rate.

BringYour Own Pumpkin 

String Art Night

Join the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Division for a fun night of crafting on pumpkins using string art.  Colorful pumpkins will be brought to life as participants create and connect dots to fill it in for a seasonal decoration.  This craft will add the perfect pop of fll to your holiday decor.  It is also a creative solution for a no-carve pumpkin idea.  Be sure to bring your own pumpkin.   It may be real, foam or wooden.  If you need a real pumpkin, add $5.00.  All supplies are provided, except the pumpkin.  Register by October 7, 2022 at https://www.amilia.com/store/en/city-of-galesburg-pr/shop/activities/4049337 or call 345-3683 for more information. 
Mixed Doubles Tennis League

Site:  Lakeside Recreation Facility – Indoor Tennis Courts

Fee:  $65.00 per person The City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation offers a wide range of  adult tennis programs.  The Mixed Doubles Tennis Leagues are available for players who love friendly competition.  Participants will have fun playing all age groups and skill levels.  Tennis enthusiasts are  encouraged to play with friends, family and co-workers.  Men and women combine to play on a team.

Fee:  $65.00 per person Playing tennis is especially fun when played with friends.  The City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation is offering Women’s Doubles Tennis League on Monday evenings from 6-7:30 p .m. for 18 years of age and up.  Partner up each week with fresh partners to form a team of two and then compete with others in tennis for a fun activity, which is great for health and fitness, this fall. Pay one fee and attend up to 8 evenings.  Fresh tennis balls are provided each week for the league.  No standings, just pure tennis fun!

Macrame Tree

Join the City of Galesburg Parks and Recreation Division for the Macrame of the Month program, and create a beautiful macrame tree of life hop wall hanging.   Variations will also enable you to learn how to create an amazing gift for future holidays. Adult Volleyball Fall/Winter Leagues

Date: November 2, 2022-February 22, 2023 (No games on November 23, December 28 or January 4)

Day:  Wednesday Evenings

Site:  Hawthorne Municipal Pool

Fee:  $330 per team early bird fee, $370 per team late fee 

Player Fee:  $80 Player fee with $10 for each additional player 

Free Agents:  $10.00 per player

Spike up your volleyball game with the Competitive and Non-Competitive Co-ed Adult Volleyball Leagues for the indoor volleyball season.  Games are played at Hawthorne Gymnasium and Lakeside Recreation Facilities during the fall and winter season.  League game times are on Wednesdays between  6:00-10:00 p .m.
