Donald Andrew “Andy” Rutledge, 59, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 4:27 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his home.

Andy was born October 3, 1963 in Galesburg, the son of Robert Wayne and Mary Catharine (Dudman) Rutledge.  He married Amy L. Bainbridge on May 28, 1988 in Woodhull, Illinois.  She survives of Galesburg as do his children, Aaron (Malissa) Indelicato of Davenport, Iowa, Luna (Gale) Rutledge of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Holden (Liz Castillo) Rutledge of Rockford, Illinois, and Harrison Rutledge of Galesburg.  Andy is also survived by two brothers, Dave Rutledge of Galesburg and Jim (Judy) Rutledge of Knoxville, Illinois.  Andy was preceded by his parents and one brother, Kirk Rutledge. 

Andy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Western Illinois University.  He worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections at Henry C. Hill Correctional Center for 20 years, retiring in 2012.  After retirement, Andy worked part time at the Knox County Humane Society, the VNA, and drove the handivan for the city of Galesburg.  Artistic in nature, Andy loved listening to and playing music on his guitar.  He was also intrigued by outer space and aliens, even taking a trip once to Roswell, NM.  Andy had a deep love and bond with his animals.

Cremation will be accorded with a visitation following on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com
