Elmer L. Hawk, 93, of Roseville, IL, passed away at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on February 8, 1929 in Swan Creek, IL, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Ross) Hawk.  Elmer graduated from Roseville High School in 1946. 

Elmer served in the National Guard for 6 years.  He later served in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

Elmer married Barbara Howard in 1954; she preceded him in death in 1961.  He later married Marybeth Buland on October 5, 1963 in Earlville, IL; she survives.

Elmer and Marybeth farmed in the Roseville area for many years.  In 1969 they decided to travel to Phoenix, AZ with their kids in a bus that Elmer converted into an RV.  They returned to Illinois in 1972 to resume farming.  Elmer enjoyed reading, singing, and he was a conversationalist and loved to tell stories.  He liked to spend time outdoors and enjoyed boating, camping, bicycling, and exploring new areas.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Elmer attended Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth.  He also served on the Ellison Township Board.

Surviving Elmer is his wife, Marybeth Hawk of Roseville, IL; his children, Kathy Hawk of Galesburg, IL, Karen Hawk of Champaign, IL, David (Tonya) Hawk of Bushnell, IL, Nathan (Blaine Nelson) Hawk of Moorhead, MN, and Leah Hawk of Roseville, IL.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Isabella Hawk of Roseville, IL, Sylis Hawk and Braxten Hawk both of Moorhead, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clarence Hawk, Jr., William Hawk, Marvin Hawk, and one sister, Goldie Hawk.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2022 at Ellison Township Cemetery, Smithshire, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Warren County Public Library or the Lawson Babbitt American Legion Post 614 Nurses Scholarship.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
