Share

The Galesburg Community Foundation and River Bend Food Bank have established a partnership to bring a regional branch to Galesburg. Director of Development at the Galesburg Community Foundation, Sarah Grant, says the partnership is a part of the foundations new venture, ‘Mission Impact Investing:’

“Something that people might have seen if they are driving through Galesburg here lately if you remember the old Rheinschmidt’s Carpet building, there has been a lot of work going on there and people are asking if we are moving in there, we are not actually moving in there, but it is a part of a new venture we have been doing called ‘Mission Impact Investing,’ meaning we take some of our assets and purchase that building and then pay for the rehab of it. Then we will lease it to River Bend Food Bank and also FISH Food Pantry will be sharing part of that space as well; just part of our work to help food insecurity in the area. Having River Bend there will actually help several local food pantries be closer to the food bank.”

The River Bend Food Bank provides for local food pantries in Knox, Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, Stark, and Warren Counties.
