Hayward Larry Boulware, 85, of Roseville, IL, passed away at 7:16 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL. He was born October 29, 1936 in Industry, IL, the son of Hayward and Bernice (Kimble) Boulware. He attended Industry schools until high school when he enrolled at Roseville.

He was a lifetime resident of Roseville and managed Farmers Grain Elevator for many years until his retirement. Larry enjoyed sports and excelled at basketball (area player of the year) and baseball. He played basketball for Western Illinois University for two years. He also played softball at the park and coached numerous baseball teams. He loved to play rummy or pitch at the local pool hall.

One of his joys was raising horses of which many foals were shown at local fairs. The beef cattle herd also provided many enjoyable moments. His annual hunting trip to the Pike Co. farm with Mark and Frank allowed Larry an opportunity to talk and relax.

He enjoyed spending time on the farm and did travel internationally to Sumatra Island, Indonesia and Singapore with Marilyn, Mark and Dede. Yes, he had an emergency row seat to accommodate his 6’4” frame on the flight. He and Marilyn also enjoyed their many trips to California to visit their daughter and grandson. 

Surviving Larry are his children; Sue (Rich) Pato of Antioch, CA and Mark (Dede) Boulware of Bloomington; grandson Rick Pato and granddaughter Nataya Boulware.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Marilyn Boulware; mother, Bernice Lober; step-father Russell Lober and his father Hayward Boulware.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in the care of the funeral home. Wise Family Funeral Home, Roseville is handling the arrangements.
