Is Your Identity Safe and Secure?

As a consumer, you can never be too careful in this day and age as ‘bad actors’ or ‘hackers’ are trolling for any kind of personal information they can get their hands on. Greg Bee, Pekin Insurance Company Chief Risk and Security Officer, advises using a password manager and stay aware of data breaches that hit corporations:

“If a corporation has a breach, they will send you a notification basically saying your information has been compromised. There will be instructions on there to call a number for identity theft protection, to get additional insurance or so forth, free for a year; take them up on that. Another part too, as a consumer you have all these different ecommerce sites you are going to and you have all these passwords; people get confused and will go down to one or two passwords they are using across all these different types of ecommerce sites they are using. Think about looking at a password manager. That can store your passwords for you and basically in some cases, eliminate the password in single sign-ons for those websites you are going to.”

LastPass and Dashlane are two available password managers that can be downloaded and utilized on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
