Larry Dean Fahlund, 77, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 6:03 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2022 at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg.
Larry was born September 5, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Lawrence Axel and Nellie Berniece (Teel) Fahlund. Larry spent his youth growing up in Knoxville and eventually moved to Galesburg. After graduating from Galesburg High School, Larry served in the US Army from February 9, 1966 and was honorably discharged on November 11, 1968. He attended Western Illinois University where he received a BA in Marketing and Business. Larry also attended and graduated from Engineering and Logistics School in Texarkana, Texas. Larry worked for the Federal Government for many years Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) and Army Material Command (AMC) at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
Larry was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed playing golf. He volunteered for many years at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Larry is survived by two sons, Aaron Fahlund and Chad Fahlund both of Mesa, Arizona; several grandchildren; and one sister, Bernice Kjellander of Abingdon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Frances Carol Fullerton and Sandra Kay Church.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg with military honors by the Knox County Honor Guard. Private burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to OSF St. Mary Auxiliary.
