M. Joann Miles, 77, of Galesburg, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at home.

She was born July 22, 1945, in Avon, the daughter of James Paul and Doris Miriam (Swank) Anderson.  She married Richard Lee Miles on July 17, 1962, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on April 19, 2009, after nearly 47 years of marriage.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Bill) McNeeley of Wataga; grandson, Christopher (Heather) McNeeley and great grandchildren, Mallory, Logan, and Kaelyn; granddaughter,  Kimberley (fiancé Andrew Swanson) Bond and great grandchildren, Benjamyn, Jace, and Alaina; grandson, Cody (Kristelle) McNeeley and great grandchildren, Ciel and Lilianna; granddaughter, Kayleigh McNeeley; four brothers, Greg Anderson of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Kenn (Jane) Anderson, Jeff Anderson, and Mark Anderson, all of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bryon Scott Miles in November 1986; and her sister, Judy Green.

Joann was a homemaker who had also worked in classified advertising at the Register-Mail for many years.  She enjoyed walking around the corner from work to get Pizza House pizza.  She was of the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, and sewing.  Joann also enjoyed watching TCM and The Hallmark Channel, Downton Abbey, and mystery and true crime shows.  She was a dog lover, who owned many rescue dogs over the years.  Joann attended night school in order to earn her high school diploma in 1980, before her son in 1981, and her daughter in 1982.

Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg.  Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeremie Kilgore officiating.  Burial will be in Warren County Hope Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
