At the recent Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education meeting, several projects were approved, including installation of air conditioning at the high school. Superintendent Ed Fletcher says the $3 million dollar project could take two years to complete:
“Over the past few years, we have put in air conditioning and new HVAC system at Lincoln, the Junior High, and now we are working on Harding and Central. The last building that needed it was the High School and so the board approved a bid. It is an expensive one, $3,058,000 and it could be a two-year project. Very labor intensive because of the different additions that have happened over time, but it is something that is needed. Last year the school board sold bonds and that is what we are using to pay for this project.”
Additional projects on tap for next summer include remodeling of bathrooms and tile abatement in all hallways and classrooms at the Junior High, updating bathrooms and replacing ceiling tiles at Central, bathrooms remodels at Harding and Lincoln, plus adding concrete parking lots in place of the rock at the buildings.
