Margaret Edna Baughman Krow Search, 96, a long time resident of Gulfport, IL, passed away on October 6, 2022 at 1:37 a.m. at Oaklane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst. Margaret lived with her daughter, son in law and grandson for 9 years in rural Stronghurst until she moved to Oaklane in 2017.

She was Born June 4, 1926, to Perry James and Blanch Edna (Errickson) Baughman at the Misericordia Hospital in Milwaukee, WI

She married James Aaron Krow on June 27, 1946. He passed away March 11, 1970. They had 3 children: Jackie (Jack) Lee Krow (deceased), Sharon (Terry) Garner, and William (Bill) Krow (deceased).

On May 14, 1971 she married John Search. He passed away February 5, 1988.

Margaret worked at the Burlington Glove Factory, Sylvania and Leopolds in Burlington. She loved to crochet, make all sorts of crafts, and spend time with her family. She also loved her dog Mollie and cat Oreo. She loved to play bingo. One of her most favorite past times was dancing. She, and her husband John, took ballroom dance lessons. After he passed away she started line dancing. She was involved with the Henderson County Senior Citizens and their sewing group. Henderson County Senior Citizens would pick her up from her home to play bingo and have lunch in Gladstone. She was a very clean person. She loved to help people clean their house and shine all of their appliances with Jubilee. She also loved to go on vacations with anyone that invited her along. One of her favorite sayings was “Not bad for an old gal.” As a young child, due to her black hair, her nickname was “Blackie Baughman”. She loved ice cream, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, animals and country music.

She leaves behind her daughter and son in law: Sharon and Terry Garner of Stronghurst, IL., 2 step daughters: Linda (Ken) Carlson of Indiana, and Valerie Search of Bettendorf, IA.

She leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Stacy (Ken) Laffoon, Jim Garner, Kevin (Cory)Moore, Danise (Shane) Taylor, Jason (Caroline) Krow, Aaron Krow, and Justin (Alexsis) Krow. 5 Step grandchildren: Serena King, Ben King, Yvonne Morrow, Olin (Sara) Morrow, Dorothy (Alan) Riedford.

She also leaves behind 11 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, with 2 on the way, 2 step great great grandchildren , and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her  husbands, two sons, three sisters: Louise Krow of Gulfport, IL, Marcia Baughman of Burlington, and Lois Waterman of rural Stronghurst, grandson: Jace Garner, great grandson: Robbie Vice, great grandson: Christian Garner, nephew: David Krow, and step daughter: Sylvia King.

The funeral for Margaret will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Carman Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  Please visit Margaret’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
