Monmouth City Council Approves Bid for Road Reconstruction Projects

Share

Significant road reconstruction is on the horizon throughout the City of Monmouth. City Council has diligently worked to secure funding to complete these projects, including being granted $3 million through the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan for the downtown revitalization project. As bids for the construction opened, Mayor Rod Davies says two representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation visited Monmouth for a first-hand view of the city streets:

“We have so many projects that we are working on that we had two representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation that were in Monmouth for our road project bid opening because they wanted to look at Harlem Avenue and get a first-hand view of the Harlem Avenue project we are talking about, the project we are talking about on Euclid, the one on North 6th Street, and then our downtown program; those are all programs that will involve state funding. We are making requests through them for some Rebuild Illinois money and some other grant funding opportunities. So, they were here to look at that and they were also interested to see how our road project bids came out.”

Two bids were received for the road projects throughout Monmouth and City Council approved Brandt Construction’s bid of $1,204,000.
