This Halloween night, the Monmouth Police Department is urging motorists to drive safe and be on the lookout as children and their families will be out trick-or-treating, says Police Chief Joe Switzer:
“The biggest thing, obviously it will be getting close to dark when trick or treating starts. Mainly for the people driving around, be looking out kids walking across the street. Sometimes they are not supervised and they just like to walk in the street. Some of the costumes may not be bright or able to be seen. Just pay attention when you are driving down the street. If you do have a group of kids, try to keep them together. If you are walking down the street, cross at the intersections, and just be careful of traffic.”
Area trick-or-treating hours tonight:
- City of Galesburg 5 to 8 pm
- Monmouth College Trunk-or-Treat event in the Poling Hall parking lot 4 to 6 pm
