Oquawka Residents Recognized for Quick Action During Attempted Robbery of Phillips 66

Rick Bundy, Christopher Cassiday, Gary Marston III, and Tammy Bundy all from Oquawka, IL received a certificate of appreciation from Henderson County Sheriff Steven P. Henshaw for their actions in assisting the employees and customers during an attempted robbery of the Phillips 66 gas station in Oquawka, IL.

On Sunday, September 25th, 2022 a man came into the gas station with a knife and demanded money from the cashier. When Christopher and Gary would not move out of his path, the suspect assaulted Christopher, as Gary went to assist his friend, Rick stepped in, separating the suspect from Christopher and Gary. The suspect left the gas station and got into a vehicle which was then blocked from leaving by Tammy.

The suspect was identified as Adam J Huss, age: 34 of Oquawka, IL. Huss was arrested by Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputies for Aggravated Robbery and two counts of Aggravated Assault (Huss is presumed innocent until proven guilty).

Rick, Christopher, Gary and Tammy were presented the commendation on Monday, October 3rd, 2022 at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.
