Prairie Players Civic Theatre’s first production of the ‘22-‘23 season — David Lindsay-Abair’s comedy, Ripcord — is planned for two weekends in October.

Directed by Kenny Knox, performances are scheduled for October 7-9 and 14-16 at Prairie Players Civic Theatre, 160 South Seminary Street, Galesburg. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The cast of Ripcord includes Chris Curtis, Vera Fornander, Guy West, Sarah Davis, Samuel Carrington, and Zach Hunter.

The plot of Ripcord includes Abby Binder (Curtis), a resident at the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility who is a loner, until Marilyn (Fornander) enters the picture. Abby is irritable and sarcastic, while Marilyn is bright and bubbly. Unable to get Marilyn to move out, Abby strikes a deal that if she can make the ever-cheerful Marilyn angry Marilyn will have to move out. But if Marilyn is able to scare the unflinching Abby, then Marilyn will get the bed by the window. Tickets are $16 for adults and $9 for students and can be purchased online at prairieplayers.com or by calling 309-343-7728.
