Seven Sentenced During Operation Icy Road by Macomb/McDonough County Drug Unit

McDonough County Sheriff Nicholas M. Petitgout and Macomb Police Chief Jerel Jones announce the federal sentencing of seven subjects during Operation Icy Road by the Macomb/McDonough County Drug Unit.  The Macomb/McDonough County Drug Unit has representation from the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and Macomb Police Department.

On October 28, 2022, Jeanna M. Rechkemmer, 32, of Bushnell, IL was sentenced to 135 months (11.25 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Jerel J. Guarin, 42, of Colchester, IL was sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Amanda S. Edwards, 40, of Bardolph, IL was sentenced to 120 months (10 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Trenton L. Sealock, 25, of Bardolph, IL was sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Christopher A. Yates, 39, of Joliet, IL was sentenced to 168 months (14 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Amber M. Phelps, 31, of Colchester, IL was sentenced to 120 months (10 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  John W. Yates, 56, of Bushnell, IL was sentenced to 120 months (10 years) in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The above-mentioned subjects were prosecuted by the United States District Court Central District of Illinois at Rock Island for distributing methamphetamine throughout McDonough County in West Central Illinois.

The federal investigation has been ongoing for the last two year and has covered McDonough County, Knox County, Warren County, Henderson County, Mercer County, Fulton County, Hancock County, and Burlington, IA. 

The Macomb/McDonough County Drug Task Force was assisted in the investigation by the D.E.A., Federal Bureau of Investigation, West Central Illinois Task Force, Galesburg Police Department, Monmouth Police Department, Burlington Iowa Police Department, Warren County Sherriff’s Office, Fulton County Sherriff’s Office, Mercer County Sherriff’s Office, and the Hancock County Sherriff’s Office.

Woman Sets Porch on Fire

A Burlington woman is facing criminal charges for lighting a fire on the porch of house she believed was her friend’s. The incident occurred just after 4:30pm on March 19,
