The United Red Storm faced off against the Rushville-Industry Rockets for a non-conference match on Friday night at the Home of The Red Storm. It was Homecoming night for the Red Storm. The Red Storm has had a tough season this year with their schedule has been filled with teams that have or will soon qualify for the playoffs. The Lincoln Trail Conference is always strong and will have at least five, maybe six, teams of the eight total schools, in the postseason. The Red Storm is looking to finish the season of strong with some wins to build momentum going into postseason workouts.
The Rushville-Industry Rockets started the game of strong with a 3-yard run bringing them ahead 6-0. They continued their momentum throughout the next three quarters scoring touchdown after touchdown. With 9:36 remaining in the fourth quarter Jake McElwee fought back and scored the first touchdown for the Red Storm. Rushville-Industry responded scoring another touchdown to grow their lead 50-8. Jake McElwee continued to fight and scored another touchdown for the Red Storm. The game ended with a score of 50-15.
United falls to 1-7 on the season with the loss, and 0-6 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. The Red Storm will be back at home again next week, taking on the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes.
