The West Central high school football team continued their streak of 8-man dominance this weekend, with a 58-20 rout of Aquin Catholic High School of Freeport. The Heat have outscored their opponents this season by a total of 364 points to 128. West Central also did something that they have done in all 6 games so far this year, they lead big at halftime, taking a 46-6 lead over the Bulldogs at the first half break. Head Coach Jason Kirby, talked about how his team has been able to start games so well, during this morning’s Coach’s Corner interview on the WRAM morning show.

West Central’s final stretch of games for the regular season includes an away matchup with also state-ranked Milledgeville this Friday, their final home game against Galva next Friday, and a road game against the Amboy/LaMoille/Ohio COOP to round out the season. Then the Heat will begin their IHSA 8-man playoff campaign. Last year the Heat made it all the way to the semifinal round, before falling to eventual champion Polo high school.
