The United Red Storm were back in action last night taking on Lincoln Trail conference opponent, ROWVA, Williamsfield in Oneida. United was looking for their second straight win after cruising past Walther Christian Academy last Saturday, but could not take down the Cougars, falling by a score of –

ROWVA jumped out early on United, as the Cougars first two drives ended in short rushing touchdowns, while United’s first three offensive resulted in turnover on downs. ROWVA would drive down inside the United 10-yard line, but get stopped on a fourth down, for the first Red Storm defensive stop. Backed up in their own endzone, the Red Storm would be forced to punt, and the Cougars would run the punt right back to the endzone to extend the lead to 21-0. ROWVA would hold this lead into the first half break.

United would open up the second half with the ball, and drive deep inside Cougar territory, but their promising drive would be ended on an interception that would give ROWVA the ball back. The Cougars would capitalize on the turnover and drive down the field scoring once again with just a minute to play in the 3rd quarter. The Red Storm would get on the board on a Sam Perry touchdown to end the 3rd quarter down 27-6.

Luke Nelson for ROWVA-Williamsfield would extend the Cougar lead to 34-6 with 7 minutes to go in the 3rd on a touchdown reception from quarterback Riley Danner. After a 3 and out from the Red Storm offense, ROWVA would run down the 4th quarter clock and seal the 34-6 homecoming win.

United falls to 1-6 on the season with the loss, and 0-6 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. The Red Storm will be back at home next week, taking on the Rushville/Industry Rockets.
