United Red Storm Football “Playing for Pride” in Final Two Games

Share

The United Red Storm football team heads into the final two weeks of their season with a record of (1-6). Their schedule has been chock-full of teams that have either qualified, or will most likely soon qualify, for the playoffs. The always strong Lincoln Trail Conference alone will have at least five, maybe six, teams of the eight total schools, in the postseason. Of the nine schools that played varsity football in 2021, an amazing six made the playoffs. A senior-filled Red Storm squad were one of those schools that made the postseason last fall, losing their first round game to Iroquois West 35-26. This season’s young United football team looks to finish this year’s schedule strong to build some momentum heading into off-season workouts. That starts with a Lincoln Trail-Prairieland Conference crossover game against Rushville/Industry on Homecoming weekend for United. After also qualifying for the postseason in 2021, the Rockets are thinking playoffs themselves, bringing a (4-3) record into Friday night’s contest at United High School. Red Storm head coach David Milroy says he’s hoping his team can play the role of spoiler in the final weeks of the season and give the school a bigger reason celebrate on Homecoming Week.
