Warren County Board Approves Merge of Kelly and Spring Grove Townships

Share

Under Illinois state law, each district within a county must have at least 1,000 in population posted. Following the latest census data, the Warren County Board has approved some redistricting changes to comply with the law, explains Board Chairman Mike Pearson:

“The census has come out and we had to change some of our district around a little bit to comply with state law. We have to have at least 1,000 in population in each of our districts, so we had to tweak a couple of our townships around to get that done. The net result of the assessment changes was that we only changed one township where it will have a different assessor next year; otherwise, the staff that we have this year will be the same staff as next year. We merged Kelly and Spring Grove together. You have to reassess it every ten years, but essentially, we hope that maybe these changes will last for twenty or thirty years.”

As of May of 2022, the total population for Warren County is 16,835.
