William H. Fox, 93, of North Henderson, IL, passed away at 7:01 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. He was born October 9, 1928, in Oakdale, IL, the son of Loren and Florence (McGill) Fox. He married Mary Kathryn Stull on January 19, 1956, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull, IL and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2014.

Surviving William are his daughter; Deborah (Brian) Dillbeck of Alexis; two sons, Richard (Tina) Fox of Alexis and Mike (Kelly) Fox of North Henderson; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Mary Ann) Fox of Coulterville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Theresa Fox-Allen; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

After high school, he joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War.

William farmed his whole career well into his 80’s despite his “retirement.” He also served as the North Henderson Road Commissioner. He loved gardening and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and cooking. He especially enjoyed baking apple pies and making his much-coveted apple butter. He also played and coached softball leagues. For several years he was a volunteer firefighter with the North Henderson Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at the funeral home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment with military honors will take place in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson. Memorials may be made to the North Henderson Fire Department and left in the care of the funeral home. Wise Family Funeral Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
