Evelyn L. Neal, 93, of Little York, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Legacy Estates of Monmouth. She was born September 26, 1929 in Smithshire, IL, the daughter of Vurney and Edith (Henderson) McVey. She was raised and educated in the Little York area.

She married Clinton Neal in Little York on March 21, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.

Evelyn was a homemaker and had worked for Admiral, Monmouth College, and owned & operated the grocery store and restaurant in Little York.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, canning, playing cards and helping others around town. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Larry (Jana) Neal, Marty (Ginger) Neal, Patty (William Ludlow) Clark; one sister, Florence (Jim) Seaman; grandchildren, Chris Neal, Laurie (Doug) Wood, Lonnie (Kris) Avery, Bill Toops, Jeff (Jessie) Neal, Tyson (Jamie) Neal, Tommy Neal, Carla (Robert) Dickey, Malissa (Mike) Jones; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Mary Avery and Betty Toops; son, Tommy Neal; brother Richard McVey.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in the Little York Cemetery, Little York, Illinois. Wise Family Funeral Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
