Franklin L. Campbell, 85, of Courtyard Estates of Monmouth, formerly of Alexis, IL, for over 60 years, passed away at 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, IL. Frank was born February 1, 1937 near Kirkwood, IL, the son of Roy and Mabel (Hickok) Campbell. He graduated from Little York High School in 1955 and later attended Brown’s Business School for accounting.

He went to work in the office of Willis Steel Corporation, Galesburg, in 1956 where he remained for nearly 43 years. He retired in February of 1999.

Frank served 6 years in the US Army Reserves. He married Shirly F. Burkholder on July 31, 1960 in the East Jordan United Methodist Church rural Polo, IL and she preceded him in death March 22, 2022.

Frank loved to be outside, especially in his garden growing just about everything that could be eaten. He also enjoyed doing yard work. He loved all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. For forty years he and Shirley attended most of the Alexis & United High School (where Shirley taught for 32 years) sporting events.

He was a member of the North Henderson United Methodist Church where he served on the board for many years. He was also on the Cardinal Manor Community board. He and Shirley enjoyed their cat Lucky, who survives, and many others that they had loved over the years.

Surviving Frank are his siblings; William Dale (Judy) Campbell of Stillwell, KS, and Janet (Tom) Reagor of Peculiar, MO. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister, Carol Campbell.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 in the Alexis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North Henderson United Methodist Church. Wise Family Funeral Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
