Glen H. Cree, 86, of Galesburg, passed away quietly on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, surrounded by family.

He was born August 9, 1936, in Victoria, to Cecil Mae (Westfall) and Carl C. Cree.  Glen had two older brothers, Dean and Bob; an older sister, Carlene; and younger brother, Wendall.  Glen attended primary school in Victoria and graduated from ROVA High School in 1954.  He was an active athlete and loved basketball with a special memory of winning the Knox County Tournament his senior year.  His family were members of the Victoria United Methodist Church.

Glen lived in Galesburg most of his adult life and worked for Butler Manufacturing for many years before retiring in 1998.  Glen was an avid golfer and enjoyed travelling south each year with his beloved Nancy.  Glen enjoyed retirement to the fullest, known for socializing with his many friends at HyVee or Hardee’s.  He enjoyed watching the History Channel and the occasional strawberry milkshake.

Glen and his wife, Nancy (Toureene) were married in 1954 and remained so until her passing in 2015.  Glen and Nancy brought two daughters and two sons into their family, Debra (Bill) Holcomb of Galesburg, Paul (Vergene) Cree of Knoxville, Diane (Ed) Mower of East Galesburg, and Mike (Laura) Cree of Phoenix, Arizona.  Their family further expanded to include 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.  Glen’s younger brother, Wendall, survives of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his older siblings; and a grandson, Kyle.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg.  Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating.  Cremation will be accorded after the funeral with private family burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Illinois.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
