Local Art Resources Available at the Fingertips of Aspiring Artists

Share

Dustin Scott is a local artist in the Monmouth/Galesburg area. He graduated Galesburg high school in 1999, attended Carl Sandburg for a year, before attending and graduating from Monmouth College. As digital online art reinvigorates interest in art among younger generations, Scott offers some advice for aspiring artists, who are looking for a way to get started.

“In modern times, of course if they are a young kid you want to monitor what they are on YouTube with, but there are demonstrations on there, but also there are a ton of local resources. Here in Monmouth the Buchanan Center they offer tons as well as the Galesburg Community Arts Center. Then there are a lot of local artists that would be willing to lend a helping hand or give some advice. Those are fantastic avenues and then the resource of having Dick Blick, which is just a resource that is unbelievable to have in our community.”
