Local Programs at JCC See Significant Increases

Share

Programs offered through Jamieson Community Center have all seen a significant increase along with costs, particularly in the Senior Nutrition Program, shares Executive Director Nancy Mowen:

“We have been able to bring in some extra funding. It is not adequate to cover the number of seniors that we are currently serving and looking at some options there. We have just been flooded. Last October, we had 166 people that we were serving through Senior Nutrition; right now we have 244, just a very large increase. Not only have we had an increase in people using our programs, and that is across the board; that is all of our programs at Jamieson Community Center, not just our food programs. We have also had an increase in our cost with inflation.”

Director Mowen shares from the second quarter of 2022 compared to the third quarter of this year, Senior Nutrition meals have increase by $1.01 per meal.
